About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Treasury & Portfolio Finance, you will be responsible for working with various stakeholders internally to help build out new functionality for PM implementation and portfolio optimisation. The role will address multiple initiatives simultaneously and will consist of building new functionality for the investment teams and the CIO. The aim of the group is to build a scalable centralized unit that both provides new & existing PMs with what they need to ensure their mandate is aligned with the firm’s various funds and accounts, and external factors such as fund inflows & outflows are harmoniously incorporated into the desired risk profiles.

Responsibilities include:

  • Aiding in the management of end-to-end portfolio changes, devising implementation plans and working with tech developers to build out systems as needed
  • Understanding firm/fund risk guidelines and interpreting risk measures such as VaR, volatility, DV01, convexity, etc. Handling data and drawing conclusions from it
  • Generating creative ideas to develop new tools and dashboards for risk monitoring within the group and for consumption by senior management
  • Analyzing how team’s core functions impact trade execution and other functions within the business. Understanding the real-world implications of the work being done, such as trades going to market, financing accruals and P&L reporting
  • Working towards becoming an independent contributor, whereby you can identify areas to improve efficiency and improve bottom line returns
  • Becoming plugged in with the Street and maintaining regular contact with prime brokers, executing brokers and vendors. Understanding Fulcrum’s priorities and becoming comfortable escalating matters that need addition
  • Keeping abreast of changes in the market or regulatory landscape that may require action

Key qualities of our ideal candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher achieved
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Strong analytical experience as a trading assistant, risk analyst, treasury or similar discipline. Buy-side experience preferred but would consider well rounded sell-side applicants
  • Acute attention to detail and strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Confident and able to communicate fluently with stakeholders internally and externally
  • Business, mathematics and/or engineering background is helpful for this role
  • Coding/programming skills are not a prerequisite but would be viewed favorably
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to delivering high quality results on time
  • The role suits someone who thrives working across multiple business lines, as most projects will impact several areas of the firm
  • Awareness of real-world economic and financial markets as you proactively keep abreast of news and events
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, as well as other programs in the Microsoft Office suite
