About the Role

You will help build and extend the quantamental tools used by the discretionary long short thematic equity team, which manages more than $2bn in assets. Working alongside the portfolio manager and research analysts, you will turn data and fundamental insight into systematic tools that sharpen portfolio construction and help capture alpha. It is a hands on, build focused seat with clear room to grow as you take on more responsibility over time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Help build and maintain the quantamental tools used in the portfolio construction process.
  • Turn the team’s fundamental research into systematic signals and repeatable workflows.
  • Automate manual tasks across the equity team.
  • Provide analytical support to senior analysts on data collection, and processing.
  • Assist the equities teams with graphical presentation and its wider communication with investors and other stakeholders.

Key qualities of our ideal candidate

Essential

  • Strong coding skills, ideally in Python. Working knowledge of pandas, numpy and SQL.
  • Comfortable with version control using Git.
  • Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
  • Quantitatively literate, able to pick up complex concepts quickly.
  • A clear communicator who can work comfortably with both technical and investment colleagues.
  • Pragmatic, collaborative and passionate about equities and keen to work with data.

Desirable

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an analytical subject.
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in a relevant role.
  • Comfortable working independently, in a team and across functions in a fast moving environment.
  • Exposure to development on Linux and a time series database such as ArcticDB is a plus.
