The Research Team carries out research on macroeconomics, financial markets and quantitative investment strategies. Our work combines analytical research with the practical infrastructure required to support investment decisions, model monitoring, data analysis, and robust implementation across the firm.

This role is designed as a broad, hands-on position supporting systematic research and investment processes. It combines elements of research assistant, junior quant developer and quantitative researcher, with a strong emphasis on data work, monitoring, dashboards, process automation, reliable code maintenance and selected projects using LLMs and natural language processing to analyse financial and policy-related text.

About the Role

As a full-time Quantitative Analyst, you will support the Research Team across a wide range of quantitative investment and research activities. This will include working with financial, economic and text-based datasets, maintaining research tools, producing regular monitoring outputs, improving dashboards and reports. You will own key daily processes and be given the latitude to work on improving and/or automating them using state-of-the-art technology. In return you’ll gain broad exposure. You will work directly with portfolio managers, researchers and economists, seeing how a systematic investment process runs end to end, and deepening your technical and market expertise.

Responsibilities include:

  • Running regular model updates, data checks, portfolio diagnostics and monitoring processes.
  • Working with researchers and portfolio managers to investigate data issues, explain model outputs and support day-to-day investment decision-making.
  • Building and improving dashboards, reports and visualisation tools used to monitor strategies, markets, portfolios and model outputs.
  • Helping automate recurring research and investment processes, including data pulls, model runs, reporting packs and quality-control checks.
  • Writing clear, reusable code for data analysis, research workflows and internal tools.
  • Cleaning and validating financial and economic datasets used by the Research and Investment Teams.
  • Assisting with the testing and monitoring of systematic strategies, including signals, exposures, risk, performance, drawdowns and implementation behaviour.

Key qualities of our ideal candidate

We are looking for someone technically capable, careful, curious and proactive, with a strong interest in financial markets and quantitative investment. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with data and code, and will be motivated by making research processes more robust, efficient and useful for the team.

  • A degree in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics, economics, finance, statistics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong MATLAB or Python skills, especially for data management, analysis and visualisation.
  • Proficiency with AI coding and research tools such as Claude Code and Codex, and a genuine interest in using them to work faster and automate routine tasks.
  • Familiarity with version control, documentation and basic software engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases, APIs, cloud tools or data pipelines would be helpful, as would experience working with large, unstructured datasets.
  • Familiarity with risk analytics, performance attribution or portfolio analysis would be advantageous.
  • A practical, collaborative attitude and willingness to support a broad range of team priorities.
  • Some knowledge of statistics, econometrics, machine learning, LLMs/NLP or time-series analysis would be useful, but deep macroeconomic specialisation is not required.
